The Trench coat – everlasting style

The Trench coat is rumoured to date back as long as the 1850s, but came into fame during and after the First World War. It was an optional garment for the higher-ranking officers and it became popular among them to wear it when they were off service.

Since then the Trench has gotten a life of its own and is always more or less fashionable but always the perfect choice for gentlemen and gentlewomen. Its been worn by such a diversified group off people as Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Jacques Tati, Alain Delon and an innumerable amount of femme fatales.

Quite early on it became the alternative choice for the Mods, who wore the trench as an alternative to the fishtail parka.

It don’t make no difference whether you’re Winston Churchill, Catherine Deneuve, Paul Weller, Kate Moss, or just anybody; this piece should always have a place in every human being’s wardrobe. Without the Trench coat the world would be a little less classy and a lot less stylish.
